On-page and Off-page SEO
Off Page SEO
The more relevant and quality inbound links your site has the better your site will rank in the SERPS (search engine result pages). It is all about producing content, images, and videos that offer value to your audience. If your content offers value it will probably get shared. Quality content is the best way to drive natural link shares.
Social media shares hold every little to no weight when it comes to search ranking. However, platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Google + are great link building platforms. Links to content on social media platforms help the search engines understand what websites are credible and what websites should be ranked for what keyword phrases. It’s important that social media profiles are optimized because they are often displayed on the top results in search listens for brand names (especially in Google +). Keep this in mind: nowadays, people don’t just go to Google or Yahoo for their news/research, they also use social media search features to find what they are looking for.
Video platforms like YouTube are excellent ways to drive traffic and boast your SEO. YouTube End Screen/annotations are great for link building and driving YouTube referral traffic to your site. In addition, be sure to add a RELEVANT link in the video’s description.
Directories are excellent ways to build inbound links to your site. Directory submissions will help your site receive one way links, which hold some SEO weight. Directory submissions are awfully significant for local search visibility as well. It’s also another way you can market your site to new audiences.
Forum posts are a great way to network with target markets. We are literally active on every single relevant forum. We participate in discussions daily. Forums are great ways to drive some referral traffic and to drive a bunch of unique visits. Forum postings will help your site achieve backlinks as well.
The more you write quality content, the more the search engines will recognize you as an authority in that space. It is important that your blog posts are relevant and offer value or people will not even bother reading them. If a blog post offers value people will link to it and share it on their social media platforms. It is essential that social sharing options are available for visitors. Anchor texts can be inserted into the blog post to strengthen other internal pages. A quality and interactive blog will keep your readers interested and keep them coming back. Any blog containing less than 350 words is just a waste of time and will usually not rank well.
On Page SEO
All content and landing pages are identified by keywords. It is very important that keyword tools like Google Keyword Planner and Wordtracker are used for keyword research. It is also important that keywords are relevant to user habits. Keywords should be used in URLs, tags, title tags, heading, and throughout the body of the content. The ideal keyword balance is 3-5 %. Anything exceeding 8% is considered keyword stuffing. In addition, make sure you use synonyms.
Keyword placement is actually a very underrated and underutilized SEO technique. Keywords should be placed in the first sentence and the last sentence of your content. In addition, keywords should be inserted into the body. Keywords need to be inserted into the H1 tag as well. This will put a larger emphasis on what the content is about.
All blogs and pages need to have title tags. If you do not have an option to create a title tag there are plenty of good plug-ins that you can download. Targeted keywords need to be placed in the title tag. This will label your content for search engine crawlers. Also, keep track of your title tags because you do not want to duplicate them. This is particularly imperative for landing pages. You want descriptive title tags, but do not exceed 60 characters. Also, you want to have creative title tags. If they are boring visitors will not click through.
When creating H1 tags make sure they contain descriptions and keywords. When Google spiders crawl the content it will be checked to see if the H1 tag is relevant with the title tag. Every page should have a H1 tag.
All content must be original. Sites with duplicate content will be penalized. Also, make sure all guest bloggers provide you with original content, nothing that is already on the internet. Keep it original!
Does your site load quickly? Long load times will get you penalized by Google. If your site takes more than 2-3 seconds to load users will bounce. Long load times will kill user experience. Slow load times can be caused by swollen HTML, too many ads, analytic codes, images, and videos that are not optimized. I believe that excessive and buggy plugins can slow your site down as well.
Google has made it very clear that they do not like cloaking. There are stiff penalties for sites that cloak. Cloaking is showing different content to the search engines than actual human users.
Is your site easy to navigate on mobile phones and tablets? Smart phones and tablets are pretty much used for everything. People nowadays will research products and make purchases with their tablet or smartphone. People are even browsing on their tablet or smart phone during TV commercials! If you have a high mobile bounce rate you will get penalized. There are many plug-ins that can help optimize for mobile. If possible develop a mobile theme and then get it programmed. I recommend going with a responsive website design because it will adjust your site to any smart phone or table. Responsive websites are also preferred by Google.
